First Walks, New Eyes
This set comes from my first photo walk with a photography club here in Zwolle, a slow walk through the city, shared with people who all see things a little differently.
It was also only the second time I took my Nikon D3200 out. An older camera, but new to me. I wasn’t trying to master it yet, just wanted to understand how it feels in my hands, how it reacts to light, switching through shooting modes.
We moved through quiet streets and narrow alleys, stopping often, sometimes for obvious scenes, sometimes for nothing more than a feeling. A man lost in books, a red scooter waiting in the rain, repeating shapes in brick walls, a cat sitting perfectly still as if it knew it was being watched. Small moments, easy to miss if you’re rushing.
What I enjoyed most was the pace. No pressure to perform, no need to come back with “great shots.” Just walking, looking, occasionally pressing the shutter and talking. Letting the city unfold instead of chasing it.
This walk reminded me that photography doesn’t always need a destination. Sometimes it’s just about being present long enough for something to reveal itself.
It was nice seeing these people for the first time with whom I share the same passion and I hope that this will not be the first and the last time doing so.
Below you can enjoy some of the photos that I took during our walk.
Until the next frame, Alek.
